“Being” or “Becoming”

Child as being or becoming?

To be honest, I had never thought this properly about until I was asked this in university either. I had never questioned my own perspective. Until that, I had always felt I was becoming adult as I grew up. Even as a child, I had missed to feel I was a “being” as a child too while getting lost in the idea of becoming adult. I was 19 years old when I finally took a step back and asked myself my own perception about childhood.

Imcomplete, insufficient, immature…. if taken as potential, it could be somewhat good but… All of these seem to be only a hinder for all children. We tend to think them as “becoming” because they will become adults and they are developing. However, aren’t we all always growing and changing? Don’t we also get older each day? We experience new things, our body, ideas, personality, indeed everything changes.

So maybe “being” is just death because we are all becoming.
